The qualifications are determined by the state. Each state has different standards for how to become a private investigator \u2013 some more rigorous than others. These are the basic (but not necessarily complete) private investigator qualifications:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Be at least 18 years of age<\/li><li>Have a high school diploma<\/li><li>Have residence in the state<\/li><li>Have no criminal record<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone who meets these private investigator qualifications has the right to work legally. However, in many places, they will need to meet additional requirements including getting a license and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.performancesuretybonds.com\/surety-bond\/what-is-a-surety-bond\/\">surety bond<\/a>.
